The U.S.S. Poseidon, a venerable Miranda-Class Escort Destroyer, has been recently retrofitted and brought back into service on the request of the veteran and well-respected Commodore, Gregory Paladin. It's mission: to act not only as an escort ship for important Federation trade lanes in the already unstable Alpha Quadrant, but to also act as an Academy training vessel for up-and-coming Starfleet cadets. An ambitious undertaking, one which the new crew tries to come to terms with as they become familiar with themselves.
All the while, events begin to transpire which suggest the Poseidon's imminent future will be anything but a routine tour of duty...

Departure and Trial Run
The Departure of the USS Poseidon is well underway. With only a few loose ends to tie up as the staff meet newcomers, the first formal Senior Officer meeting is on the horizon. New adventures await the crew of the Poseidon as they gear up for their first trail run.
The USS Poseidon departs for her first shakedown cruise whilst the crew continue to tie up loose ends, adding to the preliminary stages of what is hopefully going to turn out to be a fantastic voyage for her cadets and crew.

Faced with foes from beyond the pale of their universe, along with all the other challenges that come part of serving Starfleet, will the crew of the Poseidon be able to adapt and overcome?
